Derek Drinon was born in Holden, MA, descending from a line of well-known New England artists such as Bob Drinon.  Like many creatives, Derek's interest in painting and drawing began as a child, leading him to other mediums, especially photography.  This particular outlet was inspired by his father, who was always taking pictures of the family.

Finding inspiration on the coast of Maine throughout his life, Derek went on to study Printmaking, Graphic Design, and Photography at Portland School of Art (now MECA).  His career has taken him on a journey through various artistic vocations, including print and film.

Claiming it has his permanent home, Derek has been heavily inspired by the Kennebunkport coast and continues to use the land as his muse.  In addition to his previous work, Derek is currently designing hand painted laser-etched granite tile.
